“He Probably Couldn’t Find Iowa on a Map” Trump Mistakes Sioux City for Sioux Falls in Blunder on Stage

Trump was in Sioux city, Iowa for a campaign event on Sunday but the former President needed a gentle reminder of what city he was in as he blurted out, “A very big hello to a place where we’ve done very well… Sioux Falls!”

The blunder was caught on live TV and was met with a few claps but the noise of a booing crowd was hard to miss. An aide to Trump rushed on stage to correct him, whispering in Trump’s ear, “You’re actually in Sioux City, Mr President.”

Trump looked confused and said, “Oh is that right?” and quickly returned to the microphone, acting as if nothing had happened, and continued with his event.

Not the first time

This is not the first time Trump has confused a city with another, as he in 2019 wrongly named Toledo, Ohio instead of Dayton, Ohio as the site of a shooting where nine people were killed.

Public outrage

The mistake drew unwanted nationwide attention to the former President, with social media calling him out for not caring enough about the victims of the shooting.

People online reacted

As for Sunday’s event, Trump’s city name blunder once again drew social media attention, with some stating that, “He got it wrong because, really, he doesn’t care where he is, or have an interest in the people that come to see him. He really just wants adulation because he needs it like air. The city? Eh, whatever.”

Trump supporters  were quick to dismiss the error, saying, “Or because Sioux City and Sioux Falls are 90 miles apart and very often confused. He was probably just in Sioux Falls the day before.”

Why vote for Trump

Some wondered why anyone would even vote for Trump, noting, :He doesn’t even admit he [messed] up. For Pete’s sake. Why do people want him to be President? Why do they go listen to him ramble? They should just go to a nursing home and visit with someone there.”

MAGA voters don’t care

Another person said it didn’t matter because Trump voters don’t care: “Trump could just stand there and insult his MAGA people and they’d still cheer for him.”

Was he embarrassed?

Some said it appeared that Trump looked embarrassed, saying “The fact that Trump didn’t make a joke about this and just continued with Sioux City tells me he’s afraid that he forgot & ashamed.”

He’s never sincere

Others claimed that this type of mistake shows exactly what kind of person Trump is: “Notice, he makes the correction & immediately changes the subject. He never apologizes because he doesn’t know how to be sincere. We’ve heard Donald make apologies in the past. He makes a lame attempt, then quickly goes (but) then whatever.”

Wrong state

Others pointed out the fact that he didn’t even know what state he was in, saying, “The “stable genius“ not only got the city wrong but he didn’t know what state he was in. He said he was in Sioux Falls which is in South Dakota … and his kids are just like him.”

It’s not that bad

Some felt that the criticism was too harsh, writing, “Meh, much as I dislike him, we’re talking about a minor difference in names for cities less than 100 miles apart.”

Easy mistake to make

Another person agreed, “Trump can be criticized for a million bad things he’s done. Why pick on him for a mistake almost everybody makes? I think I’ve mixed up Sioux City and Sioux Falls myself.”
