Her Friend Kept Telling Her She Needed to Lose Weight so She Decided to Get Back at Her for Her Rude Behaviour

A woman recently shared her story on the internet about how she retaliated against her friend for body-shaming her. She believed that making her friend feel bad was the only way to make her understand, and that’s exactly what she did.

She’d put on some weight

The woman, who was 39 then, explains that she gained about 50 lbs when pregnant. Her friend, 55, didn’t have children, so she had no first-hand clue about how some people’s bodies can change.

Her friend noticed

Her friend was careful not to say anything directly about the woman’s weight, but she could tell how she felt because she constantly commented on diet and exercise.

She knew she could lose it

The woman thought she could lose weight by breastfeeding, as with her other children. But they were born when she lived in a different city from her friend, so the friend hadn’t seen her in person then.

Her friend acted different

In the past, when the woman had visited her friend, she would offer her snacks like chips. But now, after gaining weight, her friend would only offer her snacks like cut veggies with zero-calorie dip.

She wanted her to exercise

Her friend also tried to convince her to go on walks with her, but she was too exhausted. “I had to go back to work full-time & I got enough exercise already, so I almost always said no,” the woman said.

Her friend lied

One evening, the woman spotted some chips in her friend’s kitchen and asked for some. Her friend said they belonged to her husband, so she couldn’t have any. “They were never off limits to me before I got fat!” the woman said.

The woman knows that her friend means well, but after months of pushing her to “live healthier,” aka, to lose weight, the woman got annoyed. “I was already eating healthy & exercising when I could, and the baby weight was indeed coming off from breastfeeding,” the woman explained.

But it’s annoying

And so it got to a point where the woman was fed up with her friend’s “support’.

She told her she was happy

So when she kept pushing her to do exercise and talk about nutrition, the woman told her friend that her body was different from having a baby and that she was happy the way she was. She didn’t see any reason to change herself or her habits.

Her friend kept it up

Her friend just nodded, but she still wouldn’t stop. Therefore, the woman started telling her friend that she hadn’t lost any baby weight. This was a lie.

 She had gotten slimmer

“I had dropped about 15 pounds. Then 20. Then after about a year, when I weaned my son, I had lost it all, and I fit into most of my old clothes — and I was still saying to her, “I’m happy the way I am, even at my new weight,” the woman said.

Now it was funny

However, her friend didn’t stop talking about exercise and diet, but now the woman just stopped fighting it and instead found it funny.

A friend noticed

One day, one of their mutual friends said how good she looked after losing weight. The woman’s friend insisted to her that she hadn’t lost any at all. The other friend pointed out that she was obviously much thinner, making her friend look rather foolish.

She confessed

So the next time the woman met up with her friend, she asked her straight out if she had lost weight and not told her. The woman said, “Yeah, maybe a bit?”

Her friend was angry

Her friend thought that she was a jerk for telling her all along that she hadn’t lost weight. But the woman told her, “come on, you have EYES that work just fine!”

The woman thinks the friend is at fault

The woman feels that instead of noticing her getting thinner right in front of her face, her friend somehow got stuck in the mindset that she needed her support to be healthier, and as a result, it made her look like a fool in front of one of the other friends.
