Her Husband Found a Fake Dating Profile of Her, And When She Found Out Who Was Behind It, She Was Shocked

A woman was recently notified of a fake dating profile made by someone pretending to be her. When it transpired that her sister-in-law was the culprit, the woman was absolutely furious. Here’s her side of the story.

Her husband called her

When the woman was preparing to leave for her in-laws’ house, she received a call from her husband. He was “extremely upset,” asking if she had set off, to which she said no. He explained that his father had called him with a problem.

The woman’s husband told her they had found a profile on a dating app that contained her name and photos. Before saying anything, her husband reassured her that he knew it wasn’t her.

It didn’t seem right

Her husband explained that the screenshots said that this person was less than a mile away from the user. Not only that, but the woman’s “straight, female, and married” sister-in-law found the account, so the notion that she randomly went onto the app and found the woman, despite living over 100 miles away, was strange.

Upon arriving at her in-laws’ house, he “rushed out” to speak to the woman. He said that, while she had “every right to be upset,” he would greatly appreciate it if she was the bigger person and there was no drama.

“When I got to my sister-in-law, initially, she denied everything,” she said. “But, after two minutes, she couldn’t keep her story straight. Instead of apologizing, she just started bawling her eyes out. She blamed the whole thing on pregnancy hormones and tried to play it off as a joke.”

They tried to calm her down

After her sister-in-law confessed, her mother-in-law and father-in-law pulled her outside, trying to get her to calm down. While there, the woman asked why they were taking her sister-in-law’s side, to which they replied that they were simply trying to keep the peace.

This made the woman very angry. She explained that “keeping the peace is just an excuse used by enablers.” She went on to tell them that they had an important decision coming up and that if they stood by her sister-in-law, then, as a consequence, they would lose her.

“They told me that they were afraid to lose their grandchild,” she said. “I responded (by telling them), ‘You’re going to lose a set of grandchildren either way. It’s either going to be the ones you have in front of you now or the future grandchildren that me and my husband will have.’”

Was she right?

The woman and her husband are in agreement on this, and they will sever any contact with his family unless there is a punishment for her sister-in-law’s actions.

The internet responded

One person noted, “Pregnancy doesn’t take over your mind, make you download and create a fake dating profile, and ‘frame’ your sister-in-law.”

Another commenter said, “Is your sister-in-law okay? The pregnancy brain excuse makes zero sense. Has she developed a mental health disorder?”
