Petty Bride Won’t Invite Her Fiance’s Best Friend to Her Wedding Because She Wasn’t Invited to His

A woman recently asked if she was wrong for not wanting to invite her partner’s best friend to her wedding. The reason? She wasn’t invited to his wedding because her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend was a bridesmaid. Here’s what she had to say.

His best friend was getting married

The couple was anticipating his best friend’s wedding. However, their excitement dulled when they discovered that the woman wasn’t invited to the wedding or the reception. “This made me pretty upset, as I get along with his best friend well and see him fairly regularly,” she said.

She was further frustrated because her boyfriend was one of the two best men at the wedding. Then she discovered that her boyfriend’s ex would be a bridesmaid.

“My partner felt pretty uncomfortable about it and would have preferred me to be there. However, it wasn’t his decision to exclude me from the wedding. I did not tell my partner he couldn’t go without me. I encouraged him to go,” she explained.

The couple assumed she wasn’t invited because she might be uncomfortable with his ex being there. However, their friends didn’t explain or ask her if she’d be uncomfortable. They just excluded her without asking how she felt.

They didn’t speak about it

“If I didn’t see these people often, I probably would not care. The thing is, I do,” she said. Since the wedding, neither of their friends has acknowledged that she wasn’t invited or spoken to her about it.

For the sake of her partner, she continued to be friendly to the couple, as she didn’t want to pull him away from his friends. However, seeing them all the time only annoyed her more.

She’s now facing a dilemma because her wedding is approaching. “I do not particularly want to invite either of them, but mostly the wife of his friend, as we aren’t close,” she said.

“After what happened, I don’t feel the most comfortable around them, and I feel they put up a wall and offered me no explanation to process any of this to remove the wall and get closer to them,” she said.

She felt that weddings were supposed to be spent with people you love and close friends and family, not with people who disrespected you and made you feel uncomfortable.

She asked the internet for advice

The problem is that they are her boyfriend’s closest friends, so she doesn’t want to cause an argument by not inviting them. Unsure what to do, she turned to Reddit for help.

One person said, “Just like them, you’re allowed to invite who you want. But this is your partner’s best friend. Your partner should have him at your wedding.”

Someone else said, “I can’t get past the point that your significant other didn’t fight to have you attend their wedding.”
