This Dad Sneakily Moves His Wife’s Tax Money to A Foreign Bank Account without Her Knowing, and Now Her Son Wants to Tell the IRS About It

A frustrated 19-year-old is so fed up with his lazy dad that he considers reporting him to the IRS for fraud. The dad collected their joint tax return funds from the mom and stashed the money in his own account.

The Family

He lives with his parents and his two younger siblings. His oldest sibling recently moved out of the family home.

His father, who is 62, sorts out the joint tax refunds each year for himself and his wife, the man’s mother.

It’s a Lot of Money

This usually amounts to anywhere between $10,000 and $15,000.

The man’s father sends the money back to his home, his country of origin, and it is to be used for building a house for the family.

“It was literally just bare-bones and piles of dirt,” the man said.

“He has been sending money for over a decade, by the way. Not one of us intends to live there or move there in the future, except for him.”

They Didn’t Grow up Rich

The family of six has lived in public housing for 14 years, with the group squashed into a three-bedroom house the entire time.

They have been trying to move for years, but every place they have found is either too far a commute or too expensive for the man’s father.

They Don’t Get Help Anymore

The family no longer receives assistance from section eight, so the father is responsible for paying the total rent wherever they end up.

The Mother Works Hard

The man’s mother has cooked, worked, and cleaned her entire life and has even managed to get her associate’s degree since marrying her husband. Furthermore, she raised four children.

His father, however, “can count the number of diapers he’s changed on the one hand,” the man said. He doesn’t clean and cannot cook.

His mother works more than his father and is always employed. She always holds two or three part-time jobs, whereas his father works one part-time job.

His Dad Is Always Complaining

“Despite this, he complains about paying for rent, his car expenses, groceries, literally any amount of money he has to spend,” he said.

“My mom and I get to hear it all the time. He’s fully capable of getting job training, going to school, furthering himself in literally ANY way.”

“But he mooches off my mother and sends THEIR money, of which she’s never seen a cent.”

This brings us back to the subject of joint tax returns. These are filed by his father and are only signed off by him.

It Goes Into His Account

This means that the money goes into HIS account, which he then sends across the world.

What Should the Man Do?

As such, the man asked whether it would be wrong of him to report the fraud to the IRS.

People Responded

“If your mom is willing to put up with it and sees no issue with it, you should stay out of it,” said one person.

“It would be her place, not yours, to report or change it.”
