The 77-year-old superstar, widely recognized not just for her chart-topping hits but also for her political views, opened up about her concerns during an interview with The Guardian. She stated, “I almost got an ulcer the last time. If he gets in, who knows? This time I will leave [the country].”

This proclamation surfaces as Trump, also 77, solidifies his lead among the GOP candidates, both in polling numbers and fundraising. Despite facing multiple court cases, Trump’s campaign reported an impressive $24.5 million in fundraising during the third quarter of 2023, outpacing his Republican counterparts by a significant margin.

Cher’s strong aversion to Trump isn’t recent. She was an active campaigner for President Joe Biden during the 2020 elections. Apart from attending multiple rallies to drum up support for Biden, Cher also leveraged her expansive social media presence to rally behind the Democratic candidate.

In her past interactions, Cher has labeled Trump as “Nixon on steroids” and frequently voiced her apprehensions about him posing a genuine threat to American democracy. Such statements from the “Believe” singer underscores the broader divide and heightened political emotions felt across the nation, as the 2024 elections inch closer.

Commenting on the large number of bills under consideration, she stated, “It’s something like 500 bills they’re trying to pass.” With a personal connection through her son, Chaz Bono, who transitioned in 2009, Cher has been a vocal advocate for trans rights.

Recounting her journey to understanding and acceptance, she reflected on the moment she realized she hadn’t “lost” Chastity (now Chaz) but had instead watched her child transition and “change shape.”
